LL.M. in General Law 

The General Law LL.M. is a 24-credit-hour hybrid program designed for high-achieving, experienced lawyers who are ready to specialize in their current area of practice or who wish to pivot into a new area of law. 

Students may participate in online and residential courses, crafting an area of emphasis in their field of choice or may pursue a concentration in either Public or Private Cyber Security. 

Lawyers looking to broaden and deepen their understanding of the law can work with an advisor to craft the perfect academic program from our offering of over 200 courses.

Ernesto Ballesteros serves as the Cybersecurity Advisor for the Capitol Region of Texas, for the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity Infrastructure and Security Agency (CISA). Prior to that he served the State of Texas, as the State Cybersecurity Coordinator and Chairman of the Texas Cybersecurity Council, at the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR), pursuant to Texas Government Code, Section 2054.511 and 512, where his primary charge was to “oversee cyber matters” for the State of Texas.

Cyber Security Concentration

A 2020 Cybersecurity Workforce Study conducted by (ISC)2 found that the number of cybersecurity professionals required to close the cybersecurity skills gap is at 3.12 million professionals. The gap is significant. And the percentage of people in the workforce has increased many industry leaders feel their actual professional credentials and cybersecurity skills have gotten worse. This program is designed to address the skills gap. Through this program, you will attain the legal knowledge to navigate either the public or the private sector, depending on your concentration.
