Mason Clark

Biography

In August 2025, Mason Clark, J.D., joined the St. Mary’s University School of Law as an Assistant Professor of Law. Clark is an Englehardt Research Fellow.

He previously served as the Bruce R. Jacob Visiting Assistant Professor of Law at Stetson University College of Law from 2023 until 2025.

Clark has written and presented extensively on the subjects of privacy, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. His research has been published or is forthcoming in Florida Law Review, Chapman Law Review, University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform and the peer-reviewed Journal of Advocacy and Litigation. His research focuses on consumer privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence governance, accountability and ethics.

Since joining St. Mary’s, he has served on several School of Law and University committees related to artificial intelligence ethics and governance, and he currently serves as Chair of the AI and Legal Education Subcommittee for J.D. Standards and Curriculum and Chair of the AI and Legal Tech Subcommittee for the Bock Center Development Committee.

He formerly served as the Global Deputy Privacy Officer for an international life sciences and pharmaceutical corporation based in Chicago before coming to St. Mary’s Law. He also served as an associate attorney for data security and privacy in the Chicago office of Baker & McKenzie LLP and the Indianapolis office of Ice Miller LLP.

As a data breach litigator and incident response specialist, he served as data breach counsel for international corporations through the incident-response cycle, advised multinational corporations on privacy compliance, and created and implemented enterprise privacy and cybersecurity compliance programs.

Before law school, Clark worked as a correctional officer. He founded and chaired the Indiana State Bar Association’s Data Security and Privacy Section, where he developed CLE curriculum and presentations for attorneys and other professionals.

Clark is a cum laude graduate of Indiana University’s Maurer School of Law. In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar, watching baseball and spending time with his wife, Tiffany, and his sons, Fallon and Levon. You might catch Clark playing gigs around campus!

• Hoosier Hearts Hero Award: award given by former Indiana Attorney General for producing a public service announcement regarding an unsolved murder in Franklin, Indiana (2013)
