How did you get your job?

I worked for TRLA during Alternative Spring Break and met many amazing people during that exciting week. The lawyer I was working for introduced me to a woman who worked on a special project with TRLA involving mental health issues. I reached out to her via email a few weeks after Spring Break, and she hired me as a law clerk! It really is all about who you know!

Did your job change in a virtual workplace? How did you interact with your co-workers?

Virtual clerkships are surprisingly relaxed and oddly similar to working in an office. The main difference is your ability to go to work in your pajamas! I interacted with my co-workers via video conferences, and we held weekly virtual lunches to hang out and discuss anything but work. Working with clients was especially different because it required video conferences with people all across Texas. It’s a different experience, but it’s just as rewarding.
