Matthew “Match” Dawson provides counsel on the design and implementation of traditional and sophisticated estate planning, asset protection strategies, and life insurance matters. With an emphasis on minimizing the burdens of taxation and uncertainty of potential litigation, Dawson designs strategies and vehicles most appropriate to solve the unique needs of each individual client, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, choice of business entities, and asset protection structures. Dawson also has a particular affinity for assisting clients with special needs dependents.

Prior to forming Dawson Law LLP®, Match began his legal career working for Justice Paul W. Green of the Texas Supreme Court, and later joined the distinguished Austin-based law firm of Giordani, Swanger, Ripp, & Phillips, LLP where he counseled clients on asset protection matters, estate and trust planning, and probate administration.

Match has been in the estate planning and financial services industry for over nineteen years and has earned the prestigious Excellence in Performance award three times, as well as the coveted Chairman’s Club award which recognizes a limited group of financial service professionals for their dedication to the financial services industry.

Match also earned Top of the Table honors within the Million Dollar Round Table, the world’s most prestigious financial services organization reserved for the top 1% of global wealth planners. Because of his extensive experience in the life insurance industry, Match is uniquely suited to review the appropriateness of existing life insurance structures and to assist clients with their ongoing insurance planning. However, neither Dawson Law LLP® nor Dawson act as an insurance broker or financial advisor.

After earning his B.A. in Economics from California State University Sacramento and his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from St. Mary’s University School of Law, Match returned to St. Mary’s as a Practicing Faculty member teaching Asset Protection and Estate Planning. Match is a Chartered Trust and Estate Planner®, a distinguished Fellow of the Global Academy of Finance & Management, and he’s been awarded the prestigious Accredited Estate Planner® designation, an honor bestowed upon only the best trained estate planning attorneys in Texas. Match is a member of the Real Estate, Probate, and Trust Law section of State Bar of Texas, the Forensic Expert Witness Association, the Texas Center for Legal Ethics, and the College of the State Bar of Texas, an honorary organization reserved for attorneys dedicated to high ethical standards and advanced legal training.

Match is also a member of the Estate Planning Council of Central Texas, and the Society of Financial Service Professionals, a collaborative organization of professional service providers who have distinguished themselves through advanced education.

Match and his wife, Dr. Lesha, reside in Bastrop County where she practices large animal medicine. Together, they raise three spirited children. In his spare time, Mr. Dawson enjoys spending time at his family ranch, raising cattle, and competitive trap and skeet shooting.
