Upon obtaining a bachelor’s degree, Barnes worked for the Boy Scouts of America as a District Executive in Enid, Oklahoma, from 2005 to 2009. After a successful stint in Oklahoma, he was promoted to District Director in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he supervised entry level scouting professionals.
From 2013 to 2015, Barnes was Field Director with the Boy Scouts in Amarillo where he oversaw the total field operations and fundraising efforts for the scouting council. During that time he built relationships, increased understanding and support among key constituents, and developed a track record of donor retention, continually increasing donor giving, and increasing new donor participation each year.
Barnes experience encompasses annual fundraising, event fundraising, leadership gifts and development, business prospecting and development, communications, marketing and alumni relations. While at Howard Payne University, he served as the student government president.
